Coral
Study for an art installation of an artificial coral reef in a gallery. The goal is to create the experience of a storm underwater implicit to the movement of the robotic sculpture. This is done by using a branching network of electromagnets that resemble coral branches that move magnetic structures that resemble coral polyps. This project was inspired by trying to understand research on coral reefs and storm surge energy dissipation, and my attempts to visualize the movement underwater.
Video of experiments are below.
