Black Anemones (ii)

This sculpture is part of a series of sculptures that are inspired by sea anemones. Instead of a hydrostatic skeleton, these anemones have a magnetic skeleton. Their bodies are made of magnets, magnet wire and magnetite. By controlling the current through the magnet wire, the magnetic field is changed and the spines move.
